Bell work: Please update your interactive notebook’s table of contents. We will be adding “Analogy” on page 13.
Agenda:
1. Bell ringer activity: Literary Term (analogy)
· Have students record the term and definition on page 13 of the interactive notebook
· Review the definition and example of analogy as a class

2. Begin modified Daily 5—read with a partner, read to self, and guided skill practice with Mrs. Fach
· Read to self—read your AR book, take AR quizzes, work on AR bookmarks
· Read with a partner—read chapter 5 of The Devil’s Arithmetic (knee to knee and elbow to elbow). Volume should not be above a whisper.
· Guided skill practice with Mrs. Fach—answer chapter 5 questions in Schoology and submit. Students will need to bring their interactive notebooks and Chromebooks.
3. Allow time for students to gather materials for the capitalization assessment—students may use practice WS and the interactive notebook as resources during the assessment
4. Administer the capitalization assessment
5. Allow time for students to work on Newsela assignments—quiz and writing response are due by Friday
· Please read the article about FDA regulations. After reading the article, complete both the quiz and writing response. Your response should be submitted via the Newsela binder and follow the ACE method. Responses should be well-developed, five to seven sentence paragraphs that include textual evidence.
· Be sure that the title of your document begins with your first and last name, followed by FDA Regulations Response 2016-2017. Example: Melissa Fach FDA Regulations Response 2016-2017
· Quizzes and responses are due by Friday, September 23 at 11:59 PM.
